if your planning for a VERY fine specimen, you'll find yourself above the $20K mark (M.O.)

Best,

I guess opinions vary widely on what "nice" means. I've been scouring the G50 market for the last 7 months, and according to my definition of "nice", $20k will not buy you one. For a good driver with mileage in the 80-100k range, you're looking at $22-25k easily, unless you can find a motivated seller. For a "nice" G50, more than $25k. For really nice, $30k+. For super nice, over $40k and museum specimens like those found at Sloan, $60k+. 90% of all the cars I've come across are average drivers at best, nearly all of them have some portion repainted, or modded (I don't care how popular the mod is, ANY mod devalues the car compared to all original), or deferred maintenance. In other words, most of what is available is crap. You asked if there are any good ones left...the answer is not many. But again, it depends on what "good" means to you. I have higher standards than most.

For a car that you would be happy to own and receive compliments on, plan on $25-30k, plus $1k for any "adjustments" needed after purchase. Every used car I ever bought needed to be "dialed in" after purchase.
Years ago, a fellow told me that "today's high prices are tomorrow's bargains".

I know of a white '87 Targa in Oregon for $25k. If anyone is interested, PM me your email address and I will have the seller contact you directly with pictures and details.

3 owner car, 145k mi, I would say it is in 8/10 with body color wheels. Porsche mechanic owned over half its life. No stories well maintained car.

Regards,

Matt

NYN - why no Cab? Also, what's the price differential for a cab, all other things being equal?

Is your '87 a coupe, cab or Targa?

It's a coupe. I'll have to get them from home. I don't have any pictures on my office computer.
