Default PPI in Charleston S.C.?

Hello All, I'm looking at an SC located in Charleston S.C. and the owner is willing to take it for a PPI at my expense. I'm located in Colorado so any help from members who can recommend an independent P shop for a PPI would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

Stan at Rennsport is a great guy and I highly recommend him! He only works on Porsches. 843-556-4925.

I know Gordon at Autometrics very well, I know Karl very well and do recommend them for certain things, but (by virtue of this thread being in the 911 forum) I assume this is an aircooled car. Stan knows aircooled cars better than anyone by far in the area. Now if it's a later 996 variant, Autometrics may be a better choice because they have had so much experience with them.
Furthermore, Stan is a man of high principles and will represent the buyer with brutal honesty in the case of a PPI regardless of who the seller is. I know this to be absolute fact. Take your aircooled car to Stan...most discriminating 911 owners in the region learn this eventually.
Veduta, If I can be of any assistance in helping, let me know. I know ALL of the shops in the Chas. area and many of the cars that have been in that area for a while. Feel free to PM me with any questions or concerns and I will share my experience in order to help you make an informed decision.

I am planning on flying from OH to Charleston on Wed to pick up a 986 Boxster S.

Based upon the suggestions on this forum, I contacted Karl owner of European Road & Racing for a PPI. Karl was great on the phone, and willing to work the car in on Monday or Tuesday. He was glad to hear that I was very informed about the IMS issue.

But, when I contacted the owner, he wanted to see if Gordon of Autometrics would do the PPI inspection because he had contacted Gordon after I brought the potential IMS issue to his attention. Hope that doesn’t mean any conflict of interest.

It is a shame that I am about to buy this fun car, but I will worry all the way home that the engine may fail until I can get it back here to the mechanic.

Any one from SC think I have nothing to worry about with Gordon doing the PPI rather than Karl?
