Default warm start issues

took the car to the garage : checked for vacuum leak, the check valve, did some ajustments, let the car warm up, shut donw the engine, started it again, all seemed to work fine.

this weekend, had the same problem twice (warm start issues)
1- drove the car for 20 minutes
2- tried to start it after a while (at least 30 minutes)
3-wouldn't start, had to wait for an additional hour
4-finaly started, had to give it some gas

once running, no problem.
this morning, after a night in the garage, tried to start it, it did after a few turn of the key.

I'm getting pissed....called my mechanic, told him that the problem may be the fuel accumulator, he seems to hesitate to change it,

so, I think that I will try to change the fuel accumulator myself
1-by any chance, anyone out there took pics while changing this part ? anything that can guide me ?
sick of spending money.
I'm reading the 101 projects for your Porsche 911
there's a section on the FUEL SYSTEM
any info to guide me in that book ?

may consider looking for another mechanic in Montreal...suggestions ?

thanks

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge tool handy to take readings?

In my working knowledge of CIS systems (which I'll admit is limited to VW's only), you usually have two culprits to warm start up issues with CIS, faulty check fuel pumps, or accumulators that are shot.

The time frame for restart leads me to believe accumulator, its a pretty simple process to replace them. Actually I have waynes book I think he has the section in there......... yep project 5 actually haha. He suggest replacing the fuel filter at the same time ( good advice!)

I mean realistically you'd want to check fuel pressure off your pump during a hot start to making sure its not the check valve in the pump, but accumulators are cheap enough and its not a bad idea replacing them in conjunction with a fuel filter anyways

luc the accumulator is easy ... although not cheap. I would support your descision at this time to replace it. There is also a checkvalve on the fuel pump i think. Not sure 100% on that but other can comment.

There is an easy check on the accumulator. There is a diaphragm in it that the vacuum pulls down . pull the vacuum tube off the bottom. if fuel spills out the diaphram is bad.

i would change it anyway if i were you . Very easy to change . It is the thing next to the fuel filter. a couple of fittings on top and a tube on the bottom. I am assuming you have an SC. Too bad i was just in Montreal last week and could have helped you with it.

Oh geez just checked those prices on pelican haha, thats a LOT more than the VW counterparts! Well we were paying wholesale too at the shop

Fuel filters cheap enough though, 220 for both basically, do the labor yourself thats about what we would have charged anyways

Also double checked wayne's book, FP does have a check valve, typical CIS... looking through wayne's book on it, doesn't look like bosch changed much for at all for Porsche, got a couple extra lines thats about it.... still toilet bowl injection!
