Post oil pressure ?....

I searched and found some good info but just to make sure. when warm 180-190, idle pressure about 10-15, at 2k to 3k pressure about 25-35 over 4k up to 40-55 . i never hit 60...is this ok or is my pump bad..trying to avoid a total rebuild on a engine that suposed to have only 6k on it.....please help.

The general rule of thumb is 1 bar per 1k rmp. So, the guage should read ~2 at 2k rpm. This is not an exact science but should get you close. The oil you use effects pressure, so if you have 10w30 for some reason, it will be lower than if you use 20w50.

My oil pressure in 80SC wouldn't go above 3 bars when warm. Changed oil and filter, still the same.
Replaced the pressure sender and now goes up to 4.5 bars at 5k rpm. Gotta love a $50. fix

Joey , don't get too hung up about the oil pressure . If the gauge goes right up the dial when you are accelerating hard then the chances are everything is OK . I bought my 1977 911 a year ago and thought the oil pressure was malingering . The service manager of the local Porsche dealer took it up the road , gave it some real revs and showed me where the pressure was . Now I've learnt to stop worrying about it.Hope that's not too Australian but one can sometimes worry too much about old cars . Same sentiments apply to oil leaks . John from Sydney down under
