Post When were 911 body shells first galvanised?...

I recall reading somewhere that the main structure (minus fenders?) was galvanised in mid-70's (75 or 76?). Followed by complete body galvanisation starting with the SC.

Would like to know exact year or vin when the partial body galvanising took place.

Regards, Mark

The way I read it: some time in 76 except for the roof, then everything in 77 and up

I think galvanization started in '71 with the floor pans, and more galvanized areas added every year.

According to Paul Frere, the first 911 rustproofing using galvanized metal was the D-series (2.2L) in 1970. They started with the underbody and wheel arches. In 1976, they extended the use of galvanized steel to the entire body of the shell, except, for a few months, the roof.
