I am planning to install a pair of Recaro Speed 5 pt. seats and a Sparco Harness bar in place of the very aged cloth sport seats in my 1979 911SC. I am considering deleting my rear seat while I am at it but figured I get input from the collective wisdom here.

This week I am marking my one year anniversary with this car. Over the year, I have used the car as an off and on daily driver (alternating with a motorcycle), participated in numerous autocross events and a HPDE (with more planned), and taken a few solo and two-person road trips from 400 to 1600 miles roundtrip. On some of these road trips, the space in the rear has been tight for luggage (among other items, I have a big old school Samsonite I prefer to travel with that eats a lot of space).

During the twelve months I have owned the car, no one has ever ridden in the rear seat.

I am thinking that if I delete the rear seat, I should have more room to haul luggage and such in the rear and it should be a little easier to get stuff back there once the harness bar is installed.

Is there a flaw to my reasoning or is this a good idea? Do you have pictures you can share of your rear seat delete area?

Yeah I have the rear delete in my 85, I think it cleans the back of the car up a lot.

but mine looks exactly like this guys minus I don't have that aluminum plate at the bottom.... also alot of guys put lil storage box things back there just google image serach 911 rear seat delete you'll see alot of what people have done

I would just say that if you do it, make sure you store all the parts really well so they don't get beat up, that way you can always go back if you want too!

Good advices. That did already occur to me too, although storage space is at a mild premium, I should be able to squeeze in a rear seat. Maybe it will rest upright and I can lounge in it in my garage?

And btw, I am digging the yellow. I love a yellow car. I need to search to see if there is a yellow car pic thread.

I would just wrap them up in some garabe bags and duct tape everything shut with some of those humidifier things you can use for cigars haha if you live in a dry place like I do, or if you could find a spot in the house, that would be the best place for them!

And thank you, I love the yellow too! My neighbor has a Guards Red 911 RSA so we gotta pretty flashy lil block haha. I was just really lucky picking up my car, the previous owner had to have spend 12-15k on the bodywork of this car, its flawless. I've never seen a respray as good as this on a car that wasn't a full resto

The rear parcel shelf is good to have and provides storage compartments and a flat shelf to strap luggage to.

the parcel shelf doesnt gain you anything space wise however as it emulates the seats folded down .. not counting the storage area of course. Just for getting stuff in and out.

I have a custom rear seat delete that houses a sub-woofer.
