Hmm. My problem isnt getting the tach to stick out of the dash. I have a plastic tool I can pry the tach out with. I can get it out an inch or so. but it gets stuck between the steering shroud and upper dashboard. Doesnt seem like pushing from the outside, rather than pulling from the inside of the cabin, will address the tach getting stuck when it hits the steering shroud. But i'll give it a shot.

oh, ok

you can either pull the very fragile plastic shroud, or try defeating the anti-fixit bolts that hold up the steering column
