Default dp 935 Targa

1988 dp 935 Targa

Due to the voluptuous "plastic" curves, my better half named this one "dolly" (short for Dolly Parton

Once a new "tea tray" rubber lip is installed, the orignal dp wing/engine cover is going back on.

The DP body kit does not flow very well on a Targa and the wheels are way too small for such an agressive look, also the car needs to be lowered (way too much wheel gap).

Yes, it needs to be lowered with larger rims.

I would agree on the lowering/rim issue.

Iceman: The official police report I gave said it was a white car driving fast because the hi-beams were on.

Rusnak: You spent too much time at Williker's back in 80's. Ask me how I know.....

Had a POS grey market customer car in white like that back in the mid-'80s. One with the headlights in the front spoiler, and even though it was built on an SC it had the huge-*** extended rear spoiler. Obviously, we nicknamed him "Crockett."

I'm sooooooooo glad we've matured as car enthusiasts.

Is there a car in the last photo?

BTW, it looks much better lowered. I'm a Targa Fan and like the '80s tuner stuff. It would take some adjustment to see in my garage but I think the car looks cool.

My wife calls me a fan of under-appreciated cars.

I'm not sure I'd use a dealer for any work on an '80's 911.

Some of the guys are left over from the torsion bar era. Not many, but some. Even if not, you've got guys like PCA Tech Chair Peter Smith who has one of the bad-*** GT2 (club race designation, not Porsche model) running these days. Think 1:31-:32 at Laguna, when the 997 Cups are barely under 1:30. And it started life as a '70s chassis.

More to the point, if I was entrusted to set ride height/align track 911s that were running on Time Trial lap records back when I was still in my teens, it can't be exactly brain surgery..............
