Post Leaking Tranny fluid!!!!

Just did an engine drop. Replaced clutch, fly wheel, Press plate, guide tube and o-ring, release fork

Everything is great but I am getting a steady drip of Swepco (blue) after driving at high speeds.

I am not sure where this is coming from.

I see Swepco on the starter and at the bottom of the case. I thought is was the breather.

Maybe I overfilled the tranny. I am fillinf while jacked up from the back only kinda high...

Also while the tranny was out, I rolled it over a few times to clean all side of it...did I fill some reservoir at the top of the tranny and now it is spewing out?

Is the breather clogged?
is the tranny over filled?

If it sits overnight the leaking stops and at low speeds no drip, but at higher speeds it becomes a steady drip

I can't imagine it is at the guide tube because that was pretty straight forward...

any ideas!!!!!????????

Thanks

suggest that you jack it up, take out the filler plug, and see if it drains out some. It will stabilize at the proper level. Let it down level, and let it sit overnight. I know stinks like hell. In am put plug back in, clean as well as possible. Bet that fixes it.

good advise, just what did you do to tranny?? nothing except fill with fluid. Did you drop engine only or remove with tranny. If you did latter then no way did you stress tranny. It must really be seriuosly annoying to see a leak after all the work!!!!
I really feel for you. keep us posted

You mentioned changing the guide tube. But you didn't mention the input shaft seal, inside the guide tube. Did you change that too ? Mine was almost gone when I changed mine and was starting to leak.

Well With the help from this board and Pelicanparts I tracked it down...

The reason for my clutch replacement was because of a cracked release fork which made the throw out bearing move crooked...and that broke the TO bearing...there was alot of wear on the guide tube so I replced...and I think the heat from the crooked TO bearing made the main shaft seal meld to the guide tube and it came out with the old one...and when I put in the new guide tube, there was no seal...confirmed it by digging the old guide tube out of the trash...ugggg...so I drop the engine tomorrow...but it has been a fun project...satisfying to DIY...mess it up...but at least be able to track down the prob and solve it!
