If so, I'd love to hear your opinion...

Pretty expensive but mighty nice... I'm helping a friend to get into the Porsche world... he's really interested as long as they accept to have a leak-down / compression done @ a reputable independent shop...

TruSpeed is a very reputable shop not far from where I got my Carrera. That SC is a looker and considering what is being asked for cars that don't look nearly as nice I'd say it is not out of the ballpark.

My opinion is the asking price is about $10k over actual value. Hopefully they're in a dealing mood.

I just bought a 1982 Targa with 63k miles. PPI was completed with no issues. Two owner car with a clean Carfax. New tires, brakes, brake lines with all updates completed. I bought it for $21,200....asking price of $21,900....so maybe $23k for your car?

I see a headliner that sags and has at least one hole. I see bad sun visors. I see a leather dash that will need replacement very soon. I see an original A/C compressor; I would be very surprised if it worked. Lots to think about, compare it to my car...

Pedro, I'll do the leak down test here at the house!

I agree with every one that it is over priced. 20K is more what I would be thinking. The car has wear you can see it. I would want to see this car out of a show room in the sun, you can tell this is not the car they have taken pictures of and they know how to prepare them. There are most likely small issues you will not find until looking at the car. If they come down on price I would go after this car it is very nice.

Regards
Dave

My opinion:

It's an asking price.

It's a so cal car and at Truspeed who typically have nice, original cars.

I recently purchased a 1987 Carrera with 46k on the odometer (all original, alll receipts, close to perfect condition) and at a higher price.

The sale price of this SC should be less but I don't think it's too far from the asking price.

Default Thanks a lot...

Many thanks for all the kind feedback...this is definitely a great community! I gave this thread's link to my friend as he's educating himself... Truspeed has a reputation but I've seen many dogs looking just like Jennifer Aniston due to digital photography!

Pete...you're a gentleman and a HUGE asset to this Forum...we are really lucky for having you "around"... if my friend decides to close the deal, I'll send u a PM.

Thank you, Pedro! If your friend decides that he likes red I'll shoot a few more photos for him. If you can get better photos of the black car I'll be interested in looking at them.

Thanks again Pete... I'm not able to endorse this car... just got an answer from seller and he stated that car can't have a leak-down test performed. He wrote:

"because the motor has new rings and a new valve job, and we can't put that much pressure into the cylinder heads yet. We just did a valve job on this car and compression is going to be good. This car needs at least 500 miles on it before a leak down can be performed."

I also said I was expecting a leak-down's result at around 6% due to low mileage. They said 6% is for a brand new Porsche and used cars are at best 10%. As I sold my 993 and leak-down was 2% in 4 cy and 3% in 2...I had to disagree...I believe, and please correct me if I'm wrong, between 5 and 8% is pretty reasonable for a 60K miles 911SC...

Another case of seller avoiding a PPI... "Run Forest...Run..."

Ps. Unfortunately Pete's car for sale is Red and my friend is obsessed with a black coupe.

Truspeed told you that?? Wow. My 26-year old 911 tested 3-4% accross all 6. Based on their reputation, I would have expected less BS from them.

Glanced at it yesterday. Quite few big stone chips on the hood.
