Default Some 911 questions from an old poster ...

I used to post here a ton when I bought my 911 (a little more than 5 years ago). I have some questions that I would love to get the board's opinion on:

1. I've been thinking of selling my '89 911 Cab. I started checking AutoTrader, this site, Pelican Parts, etc, and it seems like prices have gone up in the last five years. Do you agree with this?

2. Related question: What do you think I should list my car for? A few facts: Interior and exterior both in good condition. 73,329 miles. Clutch on air conditioner just went out last year; haven't had a chance to ask a mechanic how much it would cost to fix it, but it didn't blow cold air anyway ... so I haven't felt the need to mess with it (air conditioning pedal's on the right, of course). A new owner would probably want new tires. I had the CV joints replaced when I bought the car, but I've never had any other problems. Drives great.

Any advice would be appreciated. ~Kevin

looks like a nice clean car

i would get rid of that modern script 911 and put back on the classic Carrera script if you have it

no idea of what its worth but why not list it high and see what hppens . list it for 25-27 and see if you get any bites

I noticed a bunch for $29k to $32k on AutoTrader nationwide, which surprised me. I just can't find low mileage G50's anywhere; so, maybe that's driving the prices. Spring has sprung here in Atlanta; so, I figure it's time to list it for those wanting a convertible. I do have the original Carrera script, but it's never been on the car (the last owner changed it and I like the 911 script). Do you think no working air will bother folks?

Default .

The absolute best G50 car I looked at sold rather quickly for $29K or very close to it, in private sale, northern VA/DC area. This was in November / December 2011. If I recall correctly, it had somewhat fewer miles, something like 60,000. Was definitely flawless inside and out, enthusiast owner with full records, etc. While the car was pristine, it was a targa, and the color combo wasn't attractive in my opinion. I think it would have gotten 30k+ (quite possibly from me!) if it was:

- A coupe or cab
- Nicer colors
- Spring or summer sale instead of winter

Bear in mind this was DC area, where there still is no sign of recession...

I would think that needing tires and AC work, if that is all, you could be worth $25k if you have some history. Prices are strong.

If the buyer really gets into AC rehab, that could be $1500-2500 alone. Tires another $1000+. So, that gets one to a $28-29k investment.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably get my mechanic to look at the A/C just to give me an estimate. If I got $25k, I would be getting back what I paid 5 years ago. Hard to complain about that.

Decided to go ahead and list it on AutoTrader:

I've listed it in the classified section here @ Rennlist as well.

Since there are always a lot of discussions here about 911 values, I thought I would let the board know that I sold mine last week for $24,000. I probably could have held out for $1,000 more perhaps, but I had to be in South America for a couple of weeks and decided to let it go. I bought the car for $21,500; so, I felt pretty good about the whole experience. God Bless, my friends and safe driving!
