Slowly getting local leads in IL, but nothing is hashing out... I found a nice '75 targa in detroit, but I want an og paint car and an SC.
The SC Domination group sounds sweet...
how do ya join?
thanks,
Pete

The SC World Domination Plot sounds very subversive; just the kind of club for me. After all, the PCA is kind of mellow!

Spread the word my children.

We have been responsible for many things that most people wouldn't ever think we meddled in.

Like "El Nino"...that was us all the way.

And we are primary supporters/lobbists to have the Rossie O'donell show taken off the air.

You can always spot a member at any club event, swap meet, autoX, or grocery store by the very subtile double dipped two toned wink he will give you.
You you respond with a slight nod, and throw the SC "gang sign". Kinda hard to describe online...just make something up.
membership is totally free, I rely soley on my family inheritance to pay for the usual political payoffs and executions that are a neccesity of any Domination Plot.

The usual stuff. Kinda like the same thing the Kennedys got into 'cept not as cold hearted.
Web page will be up soon.

Question

How does this sound to you guys? its about three hours from my house... Should I be weary of a rebuilt engine or prefer it?

-----
"1978 Porsche 911 SC. Excellent condition. Stored winters, never seen rain. All records. Over 9K spent on engine rebuild 9,000 miles ago by a Certified porsche shop using all genuine porsche parts. 2K spent on full re-done leather seats. Original ads, brochures, warrentee and owners manuel. Plus lots of 1978 911 SC collectables for this car. Paint is A-1. No dents or scratches. Much Much more..email me and I will send more pictures. I hate to sell this perfectly pampered 911, but I am getting married! "
----

Thanks,
Pete

Pete,
You don't mention the price, but if it's in the ball-park, I'd at least have a look.

It sounds to me the seller is an enthusiast. That is important when you are buying these cars. He probably treated the car well.

Still, make sure you check all the service documentation, then drive it for at least 2 hours. You'll know if you've found the right one. The usual advise about PPI's apply if you are still happy after the test drive.

Pete, if the seller has kept good records, the car has good documentation and it passes a PPI then I'd definately jump on it. A well kept SC is worth 13K in my book.
Things can always change after you actually see it.

Get the number of the shop that did the rebuild. If it was only 9K ago chances are they'd probably remember it. I'd call them and ask them about the car.
I have seen nice cars in my mechanics garage and when I comment on what a nice looking car it is he tells me that it is an utter POS. Bottom line, get a PPI and contact the garage that has done most of the recent work on it.

Best of luck,

If I was close to you I might even be interested in it.

pete,

In case this hasn't been brought to your attention - try to get a copy of the most recent 'Pano' (Panorama - the PCA's monthly magazine- just received my June issue). You'll have to find a PCA member (if you have a local P shop, they will probably get it). Check their 'for sale' ads- you might find what you're looking for.And the search for the right car is at least half the fun! Good luck - your car is out there - guaranteed!

WOW We really love giving advice, don't we? It's kinda fun spending other's money, so I will also jump in w/ my 2c- one thing I HATE is rust. Keep in mind that serious galvanizing at Porsche started in 1978.
