Question Carrera Front Lip Spoiler

I have purchased a nice used valance w/ fogs to replace the bent/pitted one on my SC, although it does not have the rubber lip spoiler on it (car has carrera tail so I need to get one). In looking in the various parts catalogs and in Pano and Excellence, it seems that there is quite a wide variation in cost for these replacement spoilers (approx. $180-$300), and none of them are advertised as Porsche Factory parts. I would appreciate any recommendations / suggestions anyone has on why this is, and which spoiler to choose?

Thanks

Pete,

This has been discusses before. It seems that Vertex has teh best price for the front chin spoiler and this is an OEM part. I don't know why there is such a vast difference in the pricing for the same part, but check before ordering that this is an OEM part (which I believe other members have stated that it is). Let us know, 'cause I need to replace the chin spoiler on my '87 Carrera.

Pete,

I would call Hendrick Porsche at 800-315-8193 and ask what their price is on the front spoiler, part number 911.503.055.00 (for 74-89). Also, there is a "Spoiler Kit" which I suspect is the mounting hardware, but I'd confirm that. It's part number is 911.503.995.00. Hendrick discounts Porsche parts around 25%, which is often lower than other non-Porsche vendors, and they charge UPS shipping rates for UPS shipping, not layering a handling fee on top of it. You also get the Porsche 2 year warranty. I have no affiliation with Hendrick, just a satisfied customer.

Vertex has an excellent selection of oem parts (just got their new catalog, and they've added quite a few new parts). And where Porsche discontinues a part, there's a good chance Vertex will have the oem version (like the CIS air auxiliary regulator).

So, as usual, do your homework.

I bought mine, an original OEM part, from Europroducts.net. The rubber spoiler and installation kit ran somewhere in the neighborhood of $230. I think Pelican might be competitive on this as well, but don't use their on-line price as a guide.

Pete,

Might want to check Partsheaven, etc. for a used one... I picked up an sc valence with the spoiler attached for $75 at one of their swap meets a couple years ago.

First go directly or call your local p-car dealer. I did and found a front spoiler that had been collecting dust on its unopened container for the last 6 years. he they sold it to me for 180$ with all hardwear included. Thats almost 50% off. I was so excited I grabed it and ran out after paying of course. Wouldnt hurt to give them a shot.
