2.0 to 2.8 Update
I've got to rebuild my '69 2.0S (spun bearing). I recall seeing a post somewhere about updating the 2.0 to a 2.8 Does anyone have info on what needs to be done in order to do this?
Thanks!

Hi Mike:
First, I must ask; does your car have an aluminum or magnesium case? This is not going to be an inexpensive project to do, properly.
Those first-generation magnesium cases are not a good choice to make into a 2.8.
You would need:
70.4mm crank
2.4 or 2.7 rods
2.2 or later heads
Very extensive case mods including adding oil squirters; shuffle pins (this one mag case only)
92mm P/C set (not cheap)
46mm carbs or MFI modified to suit (not cheap)
Some gearbox mods like a billet aluminum intermediate plate is strongly recommended when using a 901 with a 2.8.
Be prepared to spend $ 12K or more to do this.

Steve:
Thanks for the quick reply. It is a mag case that already has to be taken down to have a very careful weld bead put in place. Seems I went gorilla when tightening the oil lines... The engine had already been setup with a tec2 system. So most of my cost will be squirters, I have a set 2.7 heads will they work? Already have a "modified" gearbox
Thanks!

Hi Mike:
I'd shuffle pin that case if its the 2R or 4R version.
Those 2.7 heads will work fine.
Don't run it hard (over 7500). Those early mag cases have a tendency to crack behind the #3 cylinder in the rear bulkhead next to the main bearing bore, rendering the case useless. Even the 7R's will do it over time and the 2R and most 4R's do not have the stiffening ribs in that area.
