Post 76 911 Black Smoke

I just brought a 76 911 with 11yrs and 37k on a complete rebuild. The car dosn't smoke on start-up or in normal driving but when I bring it to redline it blows out black smoke. It goes away within a few seconds, but I can see it behind the car.Is this do to lack of use? (only 37k in 11 yrs).

Are you hitting the rev limiter?

When I had a 2.7 in my '77, it did the same thing at or near the rev limiter - I think the CIS may be just dumping in too much gas. But my 3.6L does it when I hit the rev limiter, which causes unburned gas due to the terminated spark.

Yeah, shouldn't be a serious problem, just a too rich situation. May indicate a need to tune/adjust the CIS
