Default daily driver 911

sold my 95-993 last year due too economy (buyer flew from Canada and drove it home) painful experience. So lurking again for a replacment, thinking of an earlier 911 late 70's early 80's for a weekend/daily driver.
Price point under $20k looking for comments, this forum gave me some great info. on my first search and while owning the car so here I go on the slope again.
Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,
Just buy the best car you can afford. Do a proper PPI with leak down/head stud check. Look for a car with maint. history.
Late 70's early 80's SC's are still very affordable in that price range...with some looking and sorting you can find a really nice 911 SC in that range that has been freshened (upper or total rebuild etc).
Just be picky and have cash/check for influence. Don't be afaid of mileage if it has history/solid PPI from a known source.
Good luck.

BTW, there is a guy on the 912 site wanting to sell his very nice rebuilt 4 banger for 13.5k. Nice long hood in great shape. The balance (less weight out back, motor tucked forward) supposedly give a really sweet handling/ride to the cars and its a redone classic.
Could be great affordable fun.

Jeff, just a couple I saw on Pelican Thursday. One is mid 80's model, but looks nice.

Good luck!

Saw the TruSpeed car in person 2 weeks ago. Very nice but a bit pricey given the year and mileage and that it hasn't had a top end valve job yet and probably will in the near future. They also said the price was firm. Look close, my new avatar is at the TruSpeed garage.

For $18K-$20 you are buying a top end SC! This should be an easy and fun search for you.
