Default Wheel spacer help needed please

I would like to add a spacer to the back wheels only. How thick of a spacer can I go and still be able to use the existing studs to mount the wheels?

If I have to use a spacer that has studs on it then what is recommended thickness? Looking to get closer to fender lip.

It's on my 89 911, current rear tire size 255/40/17, wheel is 17x8"

Thanks in advance!

Tim

I added spacers that are about 1 3/8 inch each, mm? Brings them to a nice place. I'll send pics tonight.

Here is a picture I took with the 4mm spacers. This is a photo I took for reference before doing my suspension bushing replacement and clutch job.

The wheels are stock Fuchs 9".

If you look at the Pelican website, the thicker spacers have a lip that will center the wheel. The thinner spacers do not need it, because the stock hub will work with them. These types of spacers are what you want to get.

I have 1" on my 88. The tires are 225 on 8" x16" fuchs. A lot of it will depend on the offset of the wheel. I would take a look at how much room you have on the outside before it would rub and buy that width. Make sure the spacers are hub centric

That's about what I'm looking at is 1". H&R DRM is one i've checked out and the other is Weltmeister.

From the pic of your cars back wheel hard to see just how much it fills but it is a better look. Thanks.

Yes its not a great pic but I'm at the limit close to rubbing. With the new rubber that is about to go on they may no longer work. I have another set that is roughly .75" that I may need to switch to. There is a company called Motorsport Tech in Sparks NV that will build you just about any width you want. I found them much more price friendly than the other brands you mention too.
