Default Tire air compressor

I am just purchasing a 1985 Carrera. Did they come from factory with an air compressor for the spare tire? If so, what type as I have seen different versions on e bay. Thank you

Ditto Jondoe's question except for a '75 911S - would like to stay as original as possible - anyone out there with the Silver Anniversary Edition w/the original pump could you post a pic? Thanks Steve

I think my link is post 7 or something. Shows the correct compressor, which is a piece of junk btw.

For a 911 I think Viair. For larger tire, I like the spendy, all metal one at O' Reilly's. I have used both, and the O'Reillys one can inflate a huge tractor tire from flat to full in about 5 minutes.

Seems Rusnak's Viair pump gets high marks - I just want to snag an original if possible for judging - will keep either Fix a Flat or a motorcycle repair kit w/CO2 cartridges for actual use - so anyone w/a 75 911S with an original pump ( if there was one ) a pic would be really appreciated

Here are a few pics:

First one is the original compressor that came with the '78 SC. IIRC, it was the standard until the '84 Carrera, which came with the black plastic "Porsche" compressor.

Second pic is the Viair one.

Last two pics are the '84-'89 correct factory compressor, which is not worth the $$ if you're going to try to air up a tire with it.

while on this subject. I've wondered what the 'life cycle' is on a collapsable spare since mine is most likely 28 years old?
I've also heard that one must run the car while inflating so as not to run the batt down.

Default The Intercompressor!

Thanks to all. I think Resnak has the right one. Inter compressor for the '85. Anyone out there have one they want to part with? Car arrives tomorrow and I am stoked! '85 Turbo Look black on black with 45K original miles. The longest seven day wait of my life!

Ditto the question on the collapseable tire life. I have been afraid to even whisper the question out loud for fear that I will get a flat....

To be honest, I can't imagine ever being in a situation I would ever even use the spare tire. I can see using the air compressor if your tire developed a leak and you needed to add air to get home. I think in the worst case scenario, a can of "fix a flat" would fit the bill.

Worst case scenario would probably be a blow out and I don't think "fix a flat" is going to help with that....However a flatbed might come in handy or a spare tire in good working order.

No fix a flat for me? I usually schedule a flatbed to follow me around whenever I take mine out. He sometimes has a problem keeping up with me through the twisties here on MDI though!
