Default 2nd 2008 Carrera S owner extended warranty recommendation

I am the 2nd 2008 Carrera S owner and looking for extended warranty recommendation. The car is still in manufactory warranty with 23k miles and the warranty is to expire soon. I wonder if Porsche would sell its extended warranty to non-original owner. If not, which 3rd-party carrier will be a good chose.

Wrong forum. Try the 997 forum. Good luck. Come back when you get an air-cooled classic!

This might be better posted on the 997 board as that is your model and the posters there will be better able to answer...GR

I can't blame the guy for wanting a extended warranty. Its a dealer dependent vehical $$$$$. The idea of owning a 997 without a warranty would give me night sweats.

There are quite a few threads on this topic in the 997 forum and also on another site 6speedonline.

I just purchased an extended warranty from Fidelity Warranty Services. Marketed via new car dealers. Used by Audi as their private label extended warranty. EasyCare is another one but a bit pricier.

Do a search on Rennlist and "the other" site and you will find a wealth of info.

Where's the excitement in having something under warranty?

Ed,

The newer Carreras are chock full of electronics that would cost a fortune if they become fried. My 2011 3 series with Nav had a sudden red screen and it cost (not me) $2,700 in parts and labor to fix. Cost benefit analysis is one part. The insurance of not having to worry about a nav screen going red (or blue) is worth something. My cost for my extended warranty on the 997S works out to be less than my daily tall Starbucks coffee and I now have another 7 years 70K miles of insurance.

No excitement....just some comfort.
