Post Kelly Blue Book Value's

I would love to find me a 80-83 Coupe in line with the KBB prices, but am unable to find ANYTHING...will this always be the case?

Don't pay any attention to Kelley Blue Book as far as Porsche values are concerned. I just checked to see what KBB's value is on an 86 944 Turbo with 30k miles in excellent condition, with all options and it said it was worth $5,135! Which is about HALF what the car would actually be worth. This is what it said for private party value, trade in value says $3,775! Damn, I wish I could buy mint condition low mileage 951's for 5 grand! Hell, I'd buy 4!!!

If you want accurate values on Porsches, go to Hemmings Motor News
and check the value with NADA or CPI. KBB is for consumer car crap, not for Porsches.

Of course, bottom line, this discussion always depends on if you're buying or selling. As a seller, asking prices in Hemmings are one source to use to set an asking price. As a buyer, KBB provides one set of inputs that, when coupled with other sources like local asking prices, Excellence Market Updates, etc, will help a buyer hone in on what a base value for a particular model might be. These can and should be adjusted for special conditions, for example, lower than average mileage. Remember that asking price and selling prices often are quite different.

right now I'm dealing on a 1983 911 Coupe with 138k, has great service records, recent items were a new trans, tires, AC, repaint (b/c of fading), with about 12k in receipts the last 2 years...they want $14,500, according to CPI and NADA they are "in the ballpark" KBB says $8,500...this is why I was very curious as to the values represented there...any addt'l input would be appreciated...

is $11,900 for a 1982 coupe with 157,000 a good price, looks to be in ok shape. will it need a new engine soon? seems like a high price for high miles but what do i know i'm poor. i also found a 1979 coupe with 120,000 for $9,900 also looks in good shape. are high miles ok? or is it going to cost me big bucks in a year or so when engine dies?
