I know but so far the only piece I picked up that was rustless and no bondo was the front hood. I don't mind it too much but I was really pissed about the first set of doors and this set has some surface rust on the skin that needs to be addressed. I want to start bolting things not welding and sand blasting!
Bondo detection can sometimes be done with a magnet. I use an advertising type that is intended to stick to the refrigerator. There are several magnetic pull strengths and the lighter one is what you want. Put the magnet in a small light weight cloth bag so that it will not scratch the cars wax or paint finish. It should just barely attach to the car with you holding the top and fall off if you release it. That works for the vertical surfaces. For the horizontal surfaces you have to use a pulling test to see where there is no magnetic adhesion. I have a 1” x 2” yearly calendar magnet is a small silk bag that works well.
For used parts, a small pull magnet without a cloth cover may work better.
