Default Rear speaker wires

While it appears that 90 percent of 911 owners apparently hook an amp directly to the engine, claiming "I don't need no stinkin music- I just listen to a 6 cyl symphony, I hope someone out there can help me figure out where the rear speaker wires are supposed to be run. Mine go down between the rear seats and the noise barrier and I cannot think that is proper as they are getting crushed. Also, before I tear into the nest of wires and start tracing I would like some idea of the eventual path. I may simply cut the old and run new.

Mine ran along the passenger door sill and along that side of the rear seat area under the side pieces. They entered that path behind the top of the carpet under the dash at the passenger's right knee area. All gone now.

Ok- Thanks! I have rerun the wires to the rears to find out that....The speakers themselves are bad. At least I know for sure.

Nothing wrong with a little sound. I enjoy music. I love the sound of the engine, but sometimes some tunes are nice. Also be careful with routing the wires as the screws that hold the panel in can be easy to screw /into/ the wires. I couldn't for the longest time figure out why my rear speakers went out intermittently when I first got my 911, only to find out the prior owner had routed them fine, but ended up screwing into the wires by mistake, grounding it to the chassis lol.

my package shelf speakers are mounted underneath with no grills over top of the shelf.. the only ones i found that would fit on my somewhat limited budget were blaupunkt overdrivers..

Ok- I have put in some 6x9 Polks and they work fine. What a freakin nightmare that was. I have botched the job a bit, having had to drill a few more holes than I would have liked. However, since I am ordering a new Back Deck from a Dismantler to add 3 point rear belts, I figure I will get it perfect next time. Here is what I have learned:
1. You MUST use the spacers to elevate the speakers up or there is not enough room for the drivers.
2. Cutting 24 year old foam and wood requires a breathing filter mask- ask me how I know.

I want to go 6x9 very bad. Right now I'm using 4x6 speakers and they do not have the punch I want.

^^^ to make the rear deck accept 6x9, one car use a pair of these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_....html..I'm in the process of completing an upgrade on a 930. Ran new wires to the fronts and rear speakers. I went with 6.5 bass extension speakers from Focal and a component 6.75" speaker and tweeter combo( Focal v30). I used 6.75"spacers on the rear deck. Will be installing a Mcintosh MX 406 head unit and a Mcintosh mc431 4 channel amp. I'm crossing my fingers on a good sound....

I just installed these speakers, they fit without issue and allow the use of the original grills, sound good to me too.

Blaupunkt Overdrive Series ODx462 4"x6" 2-Way Speakers saw some on ebay for $33

I just replaced all my factory speakers with Pioneer speakers. The factory grills fit over them and everything looks stock. Much better than the OEM speakers.

Mystro, do you have a model number and/or a source for those Pioneers.
