I wish we were able to meet up on your trip home in the 911. I bet you 90% of the guys here would have pony upped for an enclosed trailer (like I did, both times).

I admire you as well as a bit jealous that you actually had the nuts to make the drive home. I bought a 67 Camaro years ago and I am still thankfull for O'Reilly's Auto Parts closing at 9pm in East Texas and West Loiusiana and Southern Mississippi . . . . . I only wish my 930 clutch was also $ 375.00 and in stock at every parts store like a Chevy small block!

My suggestion was a general one to him as a fairly new member here, to be sure he was taking advantage of this benefit. I don't see the problem in that, and I didn't simply blow him off.
Ed's right,....there's so much "historical"stuff that one could spend an evening gathering previous posters' information/experiences,...sometimes a couple of nights......it is (usually) then when I garner a post.......It's like studying for the exam, really....As well, it's good to reference previous posts so as to clarify certain things....

A WEALTH of information lives in these archives......surely a benefit, of which, to take advantage.

Nothing wrong in Ed's recco's...

No, it is not.

I like to use Techron in the spring, if needed. I like to use Stabil, or Marine Stabil in the fall. I think it keeps the pipes cleaner, and I have heard some people say they really think it helps keep a car running better. My guess is that it can prevent your start up injector from locking up and needing replacement.

Steve W says run Marine Stabil in a CIS car year round. Can't hurt an Ljet car IMO, but then I am not a doctor...

Techron won't fix that.

I just loaded a 22 gallon treatment (Techron) to my girl's tank,..as she's destined for an oil/filter change, to include valve adjustments, once she hits near empty on the tank. I last used BG44K about 6 months ago (followed-up with oil/filter change-as well as new fuel filter) and had hoped to continue it's (BG) usage but was impatient today,..as my contact was not available for the "free" BG44K!!)...

Techron's good stuff.......I like the BG44K better,..either way, it's twice a year with the cleaners,..timed with the oil changes (of course)..

She's running tops!!!!!

BEST!

I have been using Techron every 3000 miles, before oil change, for about 20 years and my 1985 Carrera runs great. I have never had a valve or injector issue in any car in which I have used Techron. BTW, when carbon issues first arose years ago, I recall reading that the Porsche fix was to blast crushed walnut sheels with compressed air into the head to dislodge the carbon---then came Techron.

I agree with twice per year for a quality fuel system treatment prior to an oil change. And Ed, don't you live where Christmas trees come from? I sold about a thousand of them this week. What are you doing buying them? Come to Fresno and I'll give you one. Walnut shells and your intact engine don't sound like a good time if you ask me.

LOL... I bought a forest service pass that allows cutting in the national forest... $10!

the downside is we got the most natural looking tree I have ever had (read Charlie Brown!)

the upside is my 87 year pld mother in law (who I absolutely LOVE) decided to come with...WOW, she really enjoyed the trip although it mean a LOT SHORTER hike through the woods looking for the perfect tree!

sorry, I am never really on topic, but then again I searched

I try to search....and it is HELPFUL, but there is something here that is annoying..

I see it as "overkill" for a one line question to take up 8" of my already small screen...and then, when adding a "quote", the post can grow to to 10" or more of my already small screen....and then, when adding a previously posted large photograph, it can grow to 18" of my already small screen. Maybe I am the only one here who is bothered by that....JUST PUTTING IT OUT THERE.

One more thing...BG44K is great.

I'll look into Stabil.

OP: Porsche tech bulletin dec 6 1985 #8510 Group 2 reports this.
Partially restricted fuel injectors can be cleaned by below procedures and applies to following models. 911/928S/944/944 Turbo

fill fuel tank, pour 20oz of techron in tank, drive car til 1/2 tank gone, refill tank with fuel. this procedure should be repeated 2 additional times.

to keep injectors clean we recommend adding 20oz techron after fuel tank refills. HOWEVER never more than 20oz per 3000 miles.

You're not the only one. This is the only forum where I've actually had to turn signature viewing off. In the CP, if you're curious. No more creepy pictures of people staring at you on every thread. No more endless lines of drivel.

Dang! And here I was fixin' to list up each and every car I've ever owned, my PCA Instructor Number, photos of the dogs, cats and farm animals, a facebook link and perhaps even a witty sounding quote I don't really understand.
