Not quite sure I understand completely. You found a wire that was disconnected? The disconnection was at the fuse box, and the end of the wire was buried under the climate control stuff behind the master cylinder? How did it get there? Or, do you mean that all the wire connectons at the fuse box were fine, but the disconnection was located under the climate control stuff behind the master cylinder? Was this at a connector, or was the wire broken/burned?

Please provide as much detail as possible. Maybe this is a failure worth knowing about. Or, is it possibly from someone else's careless work in that area?

I went back and read that you had put 12V to the circuit downstream of the brake lamp switches and did not get working brake lamps. That indicates a problem downstream of the brake lamp switches. I'm wondering why the solution was then a wire that appears to be upstream of the brake lamp switches since you say it was a wire to the fuse box. I'm really confused.
