I am replacing the chromed fuchs that came on my car with black centered ones. I planned on going with the 6x16 & 7x16 set up that seems to be the most popular at this time . . . then I read a tech e-mail on another site that says that a 225-50/16 on a 8x16 944 turbo wheel will fit better than a 225-50/16 on the 7x16 911 wheel.
Can any body help.
Thank you in advance.

Hello
Better fit is relative.
Yes they have a other offset but most people use them on the front axle.
This all was discused on the old 911 board so browse the archives for more input.

There's some discussion on wheels in the 911SC FAQ on this site. As Roland said, the 8x16 944 Turbo wheels are valued as they are the largest Fuch you can squeeze under the front of SC's/Carrera's bodies. Typically running that in front requires you to roll the fender lip and perhaps increase your negative camber for everything to fit and work. On the rear, factory option on SC's was 7x16 with 225's. Using 8" wide wheels in this location pushes the sidewalls out, making them more stiff, which is good at the track. If you're not tracking your 911, 6's and 7's will work well, and should be a price performer, as many are available as people move to 17" or other wheels.

Marc,
I have a '77S as well.
If you have not modified the rear fenders there is no chance you can get 8" fuchs in the back. 7's in the front is tough too, but possible with rolled fenders and negative camber.
The 7's fill out the rear wheel well nicely, and you can still get 225s on them.
Let me know if you are selling your original wheels.

I would like to thank all of you for the input. I am going with the 6 & 7s. I'll play with the rear tires until I can corner with gusto and not tear up the outside edge. I will post a follow-up when the research is completed.
Mark . . . the wheels are sold, the PO chromed them, and I just could'nt drive a triple black 911s with chrome wheels.
