Default Stupid tire question- 1987 911 Coupe

I have a spare set of 17" wheels with the following tires on them:

205/50-17 Front
255/40-17 Rear

What size Blizzak Winter Tires can I use? They do not seem to come in these sizes. They do come in:

205/50R17 (Run Flat Only- can I use it as a normal tire?)
215/45R17
225/45R17
225/55R17
235/45R17
235/50R17
235/55R17
245/40R17
245/50R17

The tire size calculator linked below (I always use this myself, no affiliation, etc) will give you an idea of what tire size will match:

General mindset with snow tires is to go "down" in size, not up.

What are your regular wheel sizes? I imagine Porsche would recommend a 205/225 combo at the largest.. maybe a 195/215 if closer to stock.

Ideally you want a long, narrow snow footprint.. Not a short, wide footprint which is comparatively what you will get with the 17" wheels.

As long as your brakes are stock, I'd source some 6 and 7 x 15 cookies or phone dials for winter use.

Guys. There is no need to fight. There are enough stupid questions to go around. Look at me- I don't even OWN my first one yet (I pick her up next Thurs) and I am already asking them ;-)

The other set of wheels is a 16" BBS set that I really like and would like to run as my normal wheels. I think I make need to sell the 17" Turbo Twists or trade for a 16 or 15 inch set for the Winter.
