Default Book Help: 101 Projects for your Porsche 911

So I'm looking to buy the "101 Projects for your Porsche 911" but noticed there are 2 different covers and wanted to know if anyone knew the differences between them? Maybe one is a newer printing? Any help is appreciated.

I happen to have a copy of both. The white-covered copy is newer. Going from memory, there are one or two updates to the white-covered version to cover Carreras but nothing major.

White copy is a newer version. Wayne Dempsey is the owner of Pelican. This was a MUST BUY for my 79 911 SC! I created a spread sheet of The 101 Projects and update it on a routine bases. Even if you don't do the work yourself, buy the book so you know what your mechanic is talking about.

Just buy the latest copy from Pelican for $22 or so: http://www.101projects.com

The latest copy is white, and contains all of the updates and corrections...

Thx,

Wayne

It is a great reference, especially if you are new to 911's. I think it is probably the first accessory I bought for my 911 ten years ago!

PS- Wayne's engine book is great too, even if you aren't insane enough to rebuild your motor like I was. It gives you a great reference into the inner workings of this great powerplant. I read mine cover to cover a couple of years before I went into the project. It actually convinced me I COULD do it, when I ended up having to fix damage from a missed shift at the track.

The only thing i will caution you on is the estimated times .. double them for each project and you might be close. The aveage home mechannic doesnt have lifts etc. Like Ed it was the first book i bought and that along with the Bentley has been great , Still need to get the engine rebuilding one though .. I m hoping that if I have it , i will never need it

My favorite advice in the book is to get it dirty. Mine came signed and dated by Wayne which is a nice touch and a good reason to order it directly from Pelican.

I have the white cover book, its a great book. I ordered when i pulled my 911 in the garage the first day i had it. The book is very well written, with very good pics. It has great project suggestions and is also a great reference for solving pieces of larger problems. I also have the haynes manual with i like as well, I have not used the haynes as much for my 911 but i had one for my 924s and it was a great book.

Best
Dave

This and a Bentley manual is all you need.... Till you start engine rebuilds.

The engine rebuild book is a great read to understand how the lumps are designed and built.

I used it extensively when I had the engine out for a clutch job. Having extensive lists of seals, gaskets and assorted sending units made the job a lot easier!

I think the engine book would be a great read even if I'm not going to do a rebuild at the moment. May as well order the 3 books at the same time. Thanks again to everyone for the info.
