Question Falken tyres on Cup Wheels - 85 Carrera Targa

Since my car is laid up getting alternator fixed, thought I might as well get other 911 thoughts sorted out. Currently have alloy Cup wheels with Falken ZE-502 Ziex 255/40x17 and 215/45x17. Had 20K miles normal driving and quite happy with them. The tyre shop (owner has 993) tells me to go for S-02s, but the front size should be 205s. Can anyone tell me if this size is critical, other than lighter steering?

I also heard the S-02s are very soft and don't last very long, plus they are now superceded by S-03s. Any comments on S-02 or 03?

I don't drive (very)hard or race. Thanks!

Ltan,

IMHO, stay with the wider front tires as they help with understeer. As for the SO2 vs S03 question, my buddies use S03 and are extremely happy with them on the street and track. I wouldnt spend the money for on them for street use alone, but they are a great tire if you go to the track on occasion. Personally I use Kuhmo Ecsta 712 on the street and Victoracers on the track. good luck
