Rennsport Reunion IV - 1967 911S No. 25 Driven by Neil Tardio...
Just got back from RRIV and had the best time! I'm a 964 guy but had to post an inquiry into No. 25 because his engine sounded completely different than every other 911 that came by...almost like a Ferrari or a motorcycle engine...and was super quick as well.
Does anyone know Neil Tardio or anything about his engine?

I wished I had my digital audio recorder with me...the noise over the whole weekend was stupendous! Not even sure a high quality recording would have done it justice. It would be like trying to explain what LSD is like to someone who's never taken it...can't be done...

I race with Neil in VARA and HSR. I was also out there also but in Group 7 with #02 (PCA Club Race).
His motor is a true 2.0L. His exhaust is a custom straight pipe. Very cool car, and driver.

The 2.0 aimed at high rpm is an amazing motor. In fact, most early, small displacement motors are wonderful at full song. Carbs/MFI produce some of what you hear. They make the larger motors found in later cars sound pretty bland.

Hey guys,
Neil Tardio here; thanks for the nice comments about my car. It was an awesome weekend for racing and spectating. I had a blast coming from last place in the trophy race and it was great to be on the track with so many excellent drivers.
As for car, as stated it's a 1967 911 S with a 2.0L motor. The car has Weber 40 IDA's and 10.5 compression. The car's redline is set at 7400. It's pretty low but it helps the motor last longer. The car also makes 170 at the rear wheels which seems to be pretty good for a straight 2.0L car. I will try and post an on-board video from the race later. If you want any more info o. The car or my mechanic you can email me at ntardio@me.com

Thanks for chiming in Neil and welcome to Rennlist. I think some folks may underestimate the enthusiasm around early cars and it is very cool your car turned some heads. Some of us may already know the allure of a high revving 911 motor, others may find out...but not without the efforts of people like yourself who choose to share these and other great machines with us.
For those that dig this kind of stuff, these guys build and drive some of the coolest Porsches on the planet, I've admired their work for years: http://www.klubsportracing.com/index...id=4&Itemid=27

Yeah, good to hear from you, Neil! I felt very fortunate to watch you guys and your wonderful cars go around Laguna Seca...you guys are truly bad-***!
Thanks for detailing your car's set-up...something about it was just so completely different from every other car in your group, perhaps intake wail through the Webers? Intoxicating...

Video from Eiffel Trophy Race at the Rennsport Reunion
Here is a video of my car racing on Saturday. Because of a stuck accelerator pedal I had to shut down my car on the warm up lap. By the time I got the car started again I ws at the back of the field starting 45th. Enjoy.
