Man u guys are just somethin

So as a last minute decision, I go to have the tachometer checked at my indy Porsche shop last night as it stopped working. So when the master mechanic is checking out my existing oil leak (say’s the O-ring at some point needs to be replaced and he would wait on it for now until the cams need to be adjusted and then he would replace O rings on both sides) I see Ed pull into the shop. I can recognize his car from a mile and it was just this karmic relationship that we both have going that each time I come over to Western Wasnhington I just had to meet him. That is why he too made an unplanned last minute trip to the shop. In any case he took me on a tour (as he knows the guys at the shop so well) and educated me about all the nuances of the Porsche cars. There were a tons of 356’s including a couple that were north of the 300K price range, some 993s, quite a few 3.2’s and a 930.

…and yes I am a gastroenterologist and “unfortunately” all these different Porsches are viewed as polyps in my textbook. To elaborate further, I like to recover every single polyp when I perform a colonoscopy and likewise, it is so tempting to acquire every single 911 (well there are some years that don’t excite me like the others), and now it’s worse as I am also in to 356’s. Too bad I get paid to acquire polyps and fill the specimen jars, but the cash flow is the reverse to fill the garage with Porsches. A little more on my garage dilemma shortly … anyway, I gotta go for now. Thank you Ed, U did make my day yesterday. Like they say it’s just not about the cars ….

In your duties as a gastroenterologist have you ever come across someone who's serum ferritin level was estimated to be in excess of 6,000 ng/mL at the age of 21?

That is very high Amber Lamp. Assuming that you have not had multiple blood transfusions in the past, you clearly have an iron overload syndrome and need to be checked for hereditary hemochromatosis (HH). A fasting transferrin saturation ≥60 percent in men or ≥50 percent in women is accurate in detecting over 90 percent of patients with homozygous HH who have clinical symptoms and/or documented iron overload. So you clearly need to see a gastroenterologist/hepatologist ASAP and you will need a blood test ie for gene mutation testing (HFE gene) and may also need a liver biopsy. Good luck. I dont want to offend anyone on this forum and will stop at that coz the last time I gave friendly advice (which was the only time) in the 911 section one of the guys who posts here infrequently gave me a hard time.

I don't think anyone here takes offense at sincere personal and professional concern for another member of the forum. The decorum police may disagree.

Dont sweat it, I've never seen an online diagnosis before, and it gives us some insight as to what makes Doug so wrong.

Vehicle was flawless except some steering wheel vibration at medium speeds which magically vanished with a higher speed !!! ??? Defogger and heating was purrfect (much better to drive this time of the year than summer with a nonfunctional A/C). The handling especially in the corners was surreal. So much more visceral. It's just u and the car nothing in between. Somehow it felt more safer than cars with all the electronic gizmos as u try to concentrate harder.
Apparently it is a full day's work to drop everything to get to the O rings. So the master mechanic said that I should put a lot more miles to justify the fix and to just keep an eye out for the volume of the leak which at this point is pretty insignificant.

Great!
I agree with paying attention more and also better feedback ffrom the car

When was the last wheel balance? That shaking isn't normal, maybe a simple fix, bent wheel, or tire issue. You remember mine, steady as a rock. Lets work at getting that solved
