Well guys - as an update - I bought it. 1987 3.2 G50 Guards Red with the tea-tray spoiler, genuine RUF rims, and a fresh top-end rebuild that's only 10,000 kms old.
A few of the upgrades are turbo brakes (front), steel braided lines, performance suspension components, etc. Engine/driveline is stock.
She's a beaut!! And surprisingly fast!!
I find it far more dynamic than the 968 and it "feels" faster, not sure if it actually is though. They'd be head to head I think.
Obviously, nothing on the 996TT, but that's not the point. The 3.2 is way more fun IMO. And in the garage parked beside the other 2 it's also the most striking.
Thanks for all the input guys

I'll chime in here on this... I had a a few P-cars over the years. A 993 C2 and a 85 911 Carrera. Both I considered nice weather cars BUT, I have got caught in a few 4" snow storms. Tires were everything. Summer tires were a nightmare and I sweated every mile trying to get my cars home. I have now come back to a 88 Carrera Targa Special Edition. Even though it is still a good weather car, I am not putting ultra high performance summer tires on it. BTW..The Steel Body 911 has a allure and feel I cant capture with a modern 911. Its pure unadulterated 911.
