Hi Lefty!

Thanks for the love! Right now it's got a stock "T" MFI motor in it, but I have big dreams. More than likely it'll end up with a 3.2 motronic motor in it before too long with an RS look to it. When I do, we'll change the nickname to "Killer Tomato".

Yep, regular subscriber to Excellence (I have every issue save three) and I've seen the article mag you mention. SWEET! A little more than I think I would do...but VERY cool!

Cheers all!

I am ... hmm.. I was a business analyst until about a month ago when I was laid off. Oh well, time to leave the whole corporate world behind and start to work for myself anyway.
Meantime I have amassed a fleet of my favorite cars such as
1975 911S; 1989 E30 M3; 1991 325IX for everyday (IX- all wheel drive) and a winter fun 1989 IX.
All cars are very unique in its own way and represent the top technology of its day. But even today these cars would never be replaced by the faceless modern machines. I get compliments and long stares no matter what car I am driving simply because they look totally different from what you can see on the road. Not even mentioning the performance.
Oh, and I am 32, came to USA from Russia 14 years ago.
Max. (no wife to support)

From Russia with much love to P cars
PS - anyone planing to be at Porsche Clash or Vintage Race in Watkins Glen this June? Maybe we can meet.

Age 25, I'm in Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supervision for Point-of-Purchase Displays (read those big "cardboard" displays in Sam's Clubs etc.)

My father was bitten by the P-car bug when I was 19. We fixed up a 1985.5 944 together which I eventually inherited. I kick myself to this day for gettting rid of it. It was a real head turner and recieved more looks than my 911 does! I guess thats what I refer to as the "guards red factor" though. I bought the 911 aorund a year ago after selling the 944 for cash reserves while building my first home. Didn't use the dough so back into the toy fund it went and voila! 911. I still have an eye on a clean 951 though. The little water pumpers were my first love. The Porsches are always loan free but my other cars are not as I've really only been out of school for a couple of years. One is a long term procurement(the Acura Sedan will hang around for a long time), while we have a Toyota Tundra which is leased. Hopefully the truck will turn into a Cayenne or an S4 Avant at the end of the lease. My wife and I will probably no longer be DINKS (dual income no kids) at the expiration of the truck lease we figure (3 years).

Hey, I'm only 17 and own one of these great cars.
I work as a desk clerk at Best Western making slightly more than minimum wage. The only reason I own one of these is because I am always finding deals and what not. I also don't have to pay for food, clothes, etc. But it goes to show you that almost anyone can own one of these cars, though many think I'm crazy.

32, Business Manager at Microsoft. 1 great wife, 2 naughty boys and a very old doberman. Paid cash for the car because, like someone said before, i hate financing depreciating assets.

Bachelor, 38, software engineer, paid cash for my Porsches, probably will for my next car. I've got a hankering for a '72-'73 "Killer Tomato" myself, and may well put the plan into motion this fall.

Single 37, IT Manager. Got my first 944 when I was 30, bought my 911 @ Age 31.
Paid cash for em all. Cant do that anymore with the lack of Bonus and raise at the company I work for. But I am happy to still have a job right now.

Some of us had to wait a while. I'm 52, a financial analyst, married twice, three kids (one married, two at home) and a 13 year old golden. Always paid cash for cars. Bought my first 911 three years ago '86 Carrera. Had many sports cars since college starting with three different MGA's including one twin cam. Moved on to a 1960 Austin Healy 100-6 - Very nice car. Then a new 1973 Opel GT (very nice car for its time - I could take any 914 1.8 and could give a 914 2.0 a run for the money). Then the family thing started and sports car thing stopped. I had always wanted a 911 and after three years of looking found a good one three years ago. Wish I still had all my old sport cars though.... (the 100-6 would be worth at least $50k today...those 3 SU carbs were fun to sycronize)

I am 38, i trade options and have owned 8 Porsches in the past 8 years. Some for a few months some for a few years. The newest was a 993 C2S and the oldest is the 197 targa i drive everyday. They're lightyears away from any 3 series. Not that the 3's are bad cars. I owned an original M3, its just something about the 911 that sets it apart. I also pay cash-o-la. I cant pay a vig on money to buy a decaying asset. I guess that is the options manager in me.

Trader220,
Hope the button doesn't stick when executing your trades (ha, ha, just kidding..). Been to the Philly exchange (total electronic trading if I remember right), it's cool. A good friend of mine was/is an options market maker on the Pacific working the pits for nearly 25 years. Went out for a couple of weeks on the floor 20 years ago - what a gas....I was thinking of doing it as well, but just felt like I didn't really have what it takes (big ones). I still trade options a bit, however not like 3 - 4 years ago.. I commend you on an exciting and volatile career...just like our cars....

Good luck!

I'm 67 and retired. I rebuilt my '70 911E about 4years ago after taking Bruce Anderson and Jerry Woods' overhaul class. If you haven't taken this class yet you should. For $600 I had the most fun I've had in years, and learned a tremendous amount. There were just 8 guys in my class and no question went unanswered. Jerry is really the man and Bruce offered a great slide show every day. When I came home I disassembled the motor and sent out a bunch of stuff for machining. The whole job came out great and I'm very proud of it. I bought my first Porsche in 1958; a new 1600 Speedster. There were three Speedsters in the city then,a red one,a white one and my blue one. Nobody knew what Porsches were then;just some little "foreign" car. I've had 4 of those little "foreign" cars. Once you get one you're hooked and then there isn't anthing else. It's like Harleys....it's not just a vehical, its a lifestyle. I don't want to drive like Hurley Haywood I just want to look like him.

25, just got married 3 weeks ago. 2 years ago bought my best friend's dad's original '77 Targa that he squeezed a 3.2 Euro engine into a few years ago. I used to drool over that car when I was 12 and he would say to me, "one day..." Then when his '02 C4 came in, he gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. It's cherry and the new wife insisted we take it out to G'towne tonight since the sun came out for the first time in a month today.

My job? not that it matters much -- START Treaty.
