Gearbox Oil
In a couple of weeks I am taking my 1980 911SC on a 10 000 km road trip. Just finished the engine oil change, oil filter and air filter.
Figured it would also be worthwhile on changing the gearbox oil. Have a couple of questions on it.
GL4 or GL5 or does it really matter?
Have changed the tranny oil on other cars with limited access to the fill plug. Anything special on the 911SC to worry about?

Yes,
Make sure you could open the fill plug before draining your oil !
A lot of people get a rude awakening when they find that the Allen head fill plug is stripped where the Allen Key fits... especially
after they have drained all their oil ...
Cheers !

I used Kendall NS-MP (do a search)
to fill I have a very clean one gallon milk jug and a cheap auto parts store pump (that doesnt fit the QT containers)
I pour the oil in the jug and pump it in the trans...total cast of tools = ~$10 and well worth it!!
as stated, remove fill plug first in case it doesnt come out you can still drive the car

I saw you on Pelican and as I said there, you are on the right track. My story: http://members.rennlist.com/harryd/Trannyoil-Change.htm
