Damn Iceman, now you're making me paranoid. I'll need to check the fuel lines as soon as I get home from work or I won't be able to sleep tonight.
That reminds me to get a fire extinguisher for the P-car....

My engine is dropped right now due to my paranoia about those fuel lines!
Although they look OK, I am definitely replacing them!!

Wow - I can only imagine that the fire spread FAST. Ice, I posted up last year to a similar thread that you and Ed had going on the same topic. At that time, I figured it was a good plan to get in there and get these bits replaced....of course I haven't gotten to that yet, but what a compelling reason for a first engine drop (not to mention that it would vastly simplify my first valve adjustment as well).
In the end, cars are easily replaced; glad to hear that nobody was hurt.

When my '89's engine was on the ground (addressing the #1 spark plug issue), we hit every o-ring/seal that could be gotten to,..fresh clutch, PP, TO bearing, RSR o-rings, V/adjustment,..cam retime..etc,..etc,..etc,........AND COMPLETE ENGINE FUEL LINE(S) CHANGE OUT!!!!! Found the original lines, 22 years old,...working perfectly,..(yeah, right)..out they came,..and I sleep much better now!!!
Now that I'm attempting the DAMNED FPR changeout (in situ), I sure wished I had addressed that and the fuel damper on the other side, while the engine was down..........NOW, what a frikin pain to get to,..and I HATE to work with crowsfeet....that FPR is as old as the lines (and I didn't even think about it then)
BEST!
