Post AC Belt Alignment

My AC drive belt on the '86 911 Coupe is slightly out of alignment. When I sight from the AC pulley to the shaft pulley, the belt bends and needs to torque a little (about 1/3") to meet both pulleys. The AC compressor is mounted just a little too far to the rear. I have loosened the compressor's hold down bolts which give me left and right play (and messed with the adjustment screw) but I can't see a way to move the compressor forward and back.
I know half of you out there say trash the AC, but it works well so it's a keeper. I would like to improve the belt alignment to prolong the belt life and hopefully reduce the belt noice from the 3.2.
Thanks to anyone willing to read through all this.
