Use a hammer. Just kidding. Removal is the reverse of installation.

Ron, sorry, but 44 years is way to long to be spending to change the shocks on your car.

This should be done in like one afternoon. Maybe you should try the ratcheting wrench already.

Sorry to be the bearer of not so good news, but getting the air box clips back on is even more difficult than removing them. Some put tie wraps on the clip lever to make it easier to do. It will cause some scrapes to your hands and/or forearm. Good luck.

just do a reach around, feel the clips and say.... "I love my airbox, I love my airbox..." she'll talk back to you if you do it right.

Ok - I think I can get my grubby hand far enough back to unhook - hooking should be interesting though.

I don't understand why they had to put clips on the back. Why not two sturdy tabs that slide into corresponding holes - and just clips in the front? odd.

It is now eight months since jclanin thought he could get it loose. I wonder... is his car still breathing?

I'll confess. These threads have worried me because I have XL hands, ridiculously long arms and an A/C compressor enroute. Scared by thoughts of gashed knuckles, broken tabs and the possibility I was born an airbox-incompetent I kept hands off until today. I live on a dirt road and I've had the car three months; it was time to have prayer with the air filter. I screwed up my courage and reached around to discover... POW! The lower clip was not secured! "Broken tab" came to mind but it felt like the tab was there. After two false starts it snapped right on. Dag... no drama. And they all popped open, snaggled the box and filter out, concluded the filter looked fine and closed it up.

Amusingly enough I found it a snap (ha ha) to open and close all four clips. I guess large hands and long arms is the ticket. Heads up to the novice - study clip/latch alignment carefully before securing, observe the difference between the latch and the handle on front before securing in back and follow the advice in the quotes above. They were quite helpful.

Use Armorall to lube up your arm. That's what I had to do. It is a nightmare but the tie clips will help. Then you have to pull them harder than anything you've ever pulled before!
