First Road Trip!
Friday morning I am taking my 16 year old out to a soccer camp at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. 183 miles of mostly Interstate but still looking forward to the ride out with Alejandro in the passenger seat. From there it is 165 miles to my parents' farm in Warwick, NY. Here is where it could get really interesting. Plenty of nice roads in the Poconos and definitely will swing through the Hawk's Nest in Port Jervis.

Will run the whole thing in reverse on Monday!
Stopped at the Autozone today and picked up a couple of quarts of VR-1, flat fix and, damn, forgot the fire extinguisher. Rec'd my Pelican package of spare fuses, DME relay and fuel pump relay last week. This is gonna be exciting and probably as close to a vacation as this "Business Development Officer" will get this summer. Funny how I've done dozens of such trips in various SUV's over the years and not given the trip a second thought. Not to mention a fire extinguisher.
Advice and suggestions welcome!

Look, a 911 like yours can go 100's of thousands of miles, its a robust car, hell they race these things then drive them home from the tracks, so a 700 mile interstate ride will be good for the car, so relax

LOL.
Your goal should be as little interstate as possible, if you have the time. It's about the journey. Stop at a hole-in-the-wall-diner in timbuktu for some great scrapple, try not to get mugged by the biker gang out front, and enjoy.

My first 911 run was when I bought my 85 Targa on October. Drove about 2500 miles from South Carolina to Newfoundland (13 states and 3 province) in 3.5 days. No problems at all. Had planned for more time, less driving but the car felt so good I kept going longer each day than planned. Hope your trip is as smooth and rewarding as mine was. Enjoy!

You have an opportunity for a perpect drive in the mountains of central Pennsylvania. Get off the interstate and drive the back roads which follow the hills and valleys and you will know what your Porsche was designed to do. I drive those roads in the vicinity of Bucknell for hours at a time for the sheer joyof it.

Hey, so it was an amazing 400 mile day. Only one slight issue which arose after some spirited driving through the twisties but I will address that in another thread. I did not do any of the PA back roads but found some of Sussex County NJ's finest. I will be heading back to Bucknell on Monday and would love to know what roads to look for since I will be a little pressed for time. Thanks to everyone for the words of inspiration. In the meantime, here's the happy camper:

When you get the fire extinguisher, get a gas smothering halon type. It will cost twice as much, but if you ever have to clean up after useing a dry chem type, you will want to strike another match under the car.
