Smile 1989..tag lamp assembly discovery

I had glanced down a few times before, griping about moisture getting in this assembly somehow...replaced it years ago......just noticed what appeared to be more moisture droplets...further inspection revealed something entirely different. As you can see, this bulb got tilted somehow...leaning close to the edge.....heat has it's repercussions....ouch...it wasn't moisture droplets at all,...but plastic melting......

She has a new assembly now,...making sure that bulb wants to stay put, vertically....just an FYI to all...

BEST!

Doyle

Always sumpin' with these cars...a mystery squeak here, a burned-out bulb there...we love them for their imperfections.

Doyle, what's your avatar? It looks familiar. It's a Rush thing, right?

Happy 4th to all!

Oh yes, those lamps are a pain.

Is there a good source for incandescent to led bulbs?

I wish that were so, Ice. In my case, I installed fresh assemblies back when I bought her....it looks as though a bump or something jarred the bulb sideways, in it's holder. It certainly continued to illuminate...I made sure the new assembly's bulb LOCKED in there nicely, hopefully to be "bump-free".....

In all actuality, maybe it was me not locking the original bulb in properly. I pay strict attention now......and will occasionally dismount to have a look....

BEST to all...

I always use the proper wattage, so no mistake there. I recall seating the bulb properly, as well,..oh well. Maybe this new assembly will hold the frikin' bulb in place regardless of bumpy roads? I know I'll be checking 'em. In fact, I plan to pull all of the lens covers this morning and have a look,..make no mistake about that!!!!!!

BEST!

Doyle
