Default Electric problem: need help.

Car: 1986 Targa

Symptoms:

1. right side front & rear (passenger side) taillight/parking (the yellow light on the bumper) lights don't work
2. right side front (passenger side) turn signal doesn't work
3. when I use the right side (passenger side) turn signal, the "clicking" is twice as fast as when I use the left side blinker

Fuses are fine, light bulbs are fine, brake lights work and the reverse light works as well.

Any clues?

Marlon

It sounds like a grounding issue to me. I'd get a test light and start at the fuse box and work my way out. Do you have a wiring diagram?

When I'm troubleshooting lights, I start with the emergency flasher and then delve into the corners that aren't working. The vast majority of symptoms like yours involve a bad ground. Have you had (or done) any work on your car lately?

Yes, had new shocks installed.

Sounds like the bulb is not grounding in the front or rear. Remove the bulbs and look at the copper strip that touches the bulbs. Make sure they touch only the rear of the bulb. I had one of the copper contacts out of position whereas it was touching the housing.

So, I measured the voltage at the fuse #19 for the passenger side parking lights and I get nothing... zero volts. (Fuse #18 for the drivers side gives me 12 volts.). What does THAT mean?

Also: problems #2 & #3 are solved. Cleaned the fitting and the indicator light is now working.
