Default One Step Closer to Living the Dream

I am hoping to not jinx the deal with this post. This '88 Coupe with 93,000 miles is nearly mine. I have test driven it without incident. PPI resulted in emphatic thumbs up from Cheech at Rennwerke (needs wiper blades, headliner repair, etc.! ) Seller is an adult in the strictest sense of the word. This DD has been well maintained and documented. PO is replacing with a 2012 S4. A price has been agreed upon and I await settlement of funds. In the meantime, I try to breathe...I will post more details and pics when deal is consumated. Thank you to everyone who has provided guidance.

Clearly I am incapable of even the most basic technological tasks (posting pics). Hopefully I can do better with the purchase.

Wow, stunning! I remember the four days or so I had to wait to fly back and pick up mine. It was a very happy and exciting time.

Looks nice!

I ended up fixing a few things on mine when I bought it. But going from a 944 to a 911 was a fun step up in power and I finally got a car I've been wanting since I was a kid. Now I can concentrate on my 924 trackday project and enjoy my 911 for a daily.

Wouldn't trade it for the world!

That is a great looking car! Good luck!

I remember waiting for all the pieces to fall into place about 18 months ago.
That was one of the longest weeks of my life...

I feel it necessary to add that I told my wife and three children at the dinner table tonight that I am already living the dream and no car can compare to the other blessings in my life that have accrued one day at a time. Having said that, it hardly seems possible that I will own such a spectacular machine after so many years of dreaming of one. Indeed, I was reminiscing yesterday about wandering the parking lot at Lime Rock 25 years ago at my first motor racing event. So many 911's. It was then that I knew that it was the true enthusiast's car. Then the late Al Holbert went out and spanked the competition in his Porsche.

And Lime Rock was where I got "hooked" as well - as a teenager about 20 years ago.

Congrats on the 911 purchase. Enjoy the car as these are fine automobiles, and you just picked up a classic.

One of the little things that I like about Porsches is the engine smell that lingers in the garage for hours after a "fun run". No other car has such a great smell. Ah, the joys of ownership....

Hope it all works out for you - the waiting is indeed the hardest part, I know that now especially since it is still fresh in my mind.

It does pass, though, and nothing beats the ride home for the first time...

Good luck and have fun with it!

I recall the first ride home on my brand new Ducati on the Merrit Pkwy in the summer of '94. Pure magic. Since this car is also in CT I am looking forward to recreating that experience.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.
