Pull the trigger. You'll never be sorry. If you want a little more oomph, invest in a mass flow sensor. Not a lot of $$ and easy to install. Takes about an hour and the car is much livelier.

Race Car
The 3.2 is a very spirited car and like all 911s - require a driving style that must be acquired. If you learn a 911, you can be fast in most everything else, but not the other way around. These cars are very satisfying.

It IS the feedback from this car,..it REQUIRES a "driver" (no power steering, no ABS, etc.)...this IS the experience of which we speak. I have (maybe) a whopping 225 HP (NOTHING compared to today's cars' outputs)...but the power to weight ratio and the way she's built (at least, for 1989) provides a great drive experience. In your case, it's your first,..so, it's HARD to go into the buy WITH that experience behind you,...and you can only take the inputs from this NG and others....(which is EXACTLY what you are doing!) The wife's Merc coupe (AMG) will spank the sheeit out of my 911 (and I would imagine MANY others of the 80's, as well,..chipped or otherwise),..but that's only because I've learned to drive that (Merc) car, just like I learned to drive the 911. STILL,...comparing the 2 "experiences" is night and day (speed aside)...one feels good and the other is numbed a bit (as to "feedback")...so: one description is "MAN, that run was fast!" and the other is "Man, that run was awesome!"....'tis (now) a difference, for me.
BEST!

I just searched. Does anyone remember the name of the Porsche parts company that used to send catalogs? I cannot find. They sold a mass flow sensor that is better that the wire sensor in the 84-89 cars. It made both of my 85-89 Carreras much more fun and drivable. I installed in about 30 minutes with minimal tools. you don't even have to jack the car up. I removed it when I sold my 88 Turbo look cab and sold it to guy in Sweden. If I remember right, it was about $800, but this was in 2000.

And I am not sure there is a significant output increase. Lots of debate on this and I side with the skeptics.

The MAF is made by Autothority. I'm not sure of the price anymore or if they even make the part for the 80's Carreras. I do know that it made my cars much more fun and drivable.

Steve,
Edit: Nevermind... you found it.
I recalled seeing this one before, but it's *very* pricey.
