Post Ignition question on 77 911 3.0

Hi, as has been well documented I have been problems with my ignition system, no spark. Well any way, I sent my Permatune off to get checked. Permatune, told me the system was in excellent shape. I am still waiting to get back. Well, knowing my Permatune was ok, I went out and bought a new ignition coil (69 Nova 350 for points coil - as suggested by the Permatune guy). Any way, I installed the coil and connected in a original Bosch CD box. The car actually started up for about 10 seconds and died. Does the Bosch CD box require a special coil or should the car have at least ran no matter how poorly without dying. Also, it it the oil cooler that is above the motor that is attached to the engine hood?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks John walker's Workshop. I hopefully will get the Permatune back today and try out. I am keeping my fingures crossed. Keep up the ggod work for all us auto dummies. Thanks again.
