Fuel Additive for Ethanol
My mechanic recommended Stabil Marine Formula to run in the 911. He said the marine version has more additives to fight the ethanol effects in an older "weekend" car.
Anyone else use an additive for ethanol?

I do not understand the reference to Ethanol, it is a good co-solvent, and is good for drying fuel systems. I suppose this refers to the hydrophilic properties of ethanol, which are problematic on storage.?

Google "phase separation" Bad juju for all engines when any gas sits for extended periods of time - but ethanol is the worst.
Ethanol - good for corn lobbyists and the senators they support - good for engine repair shops and small engine builders and dealers (leafblower runs bad, most replace, not fix)
Bad for everybody else.

Another product:

My tuning mechanic recommended this one. He periodically tests the fuel used in his customer's race cars, for alchohol and water content. He says the Starbrite product works well to deter water accumulation.

Most of the marine stores in my area stock it on the shelf.

If your car's a year-round driver...say you take it out every weekend or second weekend even in winter..does it still need some sort of fuel stabilizer?
