What material should I consider if I am planning to make new door panels for my car ?

This will be a daily driver, not a racer.

 

Ya know, you can get a pair of vinyl covered door panels for under $150 and leather for under $300. Check ads in excellence or panorama.

If you are dead set on making your own, cut a template out of thin plywood and cover it with whatever you want. There is a pretty cool red fabric cover that I saw done over on the pelican parts "how to" page, but I'm partial to that thick green faux fir.
