Default Well Thats Dangerous

So I bought my dad an 84 Carrera (See Here https://rennlist.com/forums/911-foru...light=seasoned).

Driving home one day the shifter pops out of what appears to be a short shift kit installed by the PO. It had a crappy weld that looked like a temp fix. Question is should this be properly welded or epoxied?

It will probably weld with arc or flux core. I'd do that, or JB Weld epoxy, then get Dad a new shifter for Dad's Day.

This is a known problem with the factory short shift kit. Spot weld and all is good.

Yup. It happened to me too a few years back - right after I installed the short shifter. I brought it to an acquaintance over on the Pelican forum who welded it back in place for me. Good as new (better actually).
