Question Body parts interchangeability

Folks,

Quick question please. Does someone know if the rear engine lid from a 1992 930 would fit (without modification) on a 1987 911 non-turbo body style?

I looked in the Porsche parts lists and I saw different part numbers. And unfortunately, my car is still in storage (still waiting for the snow to disappear here) so I cannot try fitment.

Has someone done this swap?

In advance, thank-you
Glenn

my first instinct would be to say no chance.. the 87 is a 911 the 92 is not ... it is a 964.

The lid will fit the body but the hinges don't! You will need to modify the 964 hinges or use some sort of adapter plate.

Do a search, it's been done on here before.

Hi,

I have a nice factory rear spoiler and I would like to remove it (I like it better without a spoiler on a targa).

Maybe we can swap! What color is yours? Mine is guard red.

Thanks,

Thanks all for the feedback.

The lid and tail assembly I picked up is black and already matches the car. I think I will try to make it work.

I also like the look without the tail ... but somedays I like the tail ... hence why I picked up this other complete assembly. Now I can just switch lids ... clean one day and tailed the next

I am also putting on the front spoiler so safe handling with the tail.

Cheers
Glenn
