Post Removed heater system and?

On the left of laternator fan is an opening for the heater hose to connect. What should I do about the hole there now. SHould it be blocked off some how. Also I removed the heat exchangers by cutting the off. Will this effect my cooling of the engine in any way. If so what should I do does any one sell a cover for that hole I now have in my engine shroud??

It wasn't clear from your post if you completely removed the heat exchanger or if you cut part of it off.

The real thing to think about if part of the heat exchanger is still on the headers is that heat rises and if the remnants of the heat exchanger tubing is still there you need to make sure that there is nothing but metal around it. I had a little melt down from a similar exercise.

Blocking the hole in the engine tray would be a good idea.

The other thing is to think about blocking the heater duct to the passenger compartment. I would worry about the small possibility of a carbon monoxide from under the car blowing in.

BY ALL MEANS do block the hole that you now have in your fan shroud. Your engine/alternator fan provides air flow to blow across the fins of your heads/cylinders and the air current will find the least path of resistance...OUT that duct!

As for your heat exanger issue, I always looked at is as the heat exchanger ALWAYS has air flow through it, whether you have the heat on or not in the older cars...I always theorized that this helped the exhaust temps a smidget? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
