Default Meteor Grey 3.2

I travel a lot for work but before this current trip I was able to get a couple of things finished on the 911 I have been wanting to for a while. I removed the tail and got a used deck lid which I had painted to match. (I still have the OEM lid and tail that came with the car from new). I sourced a pair of the narrow European bumperettes and had the extra holes in the Aluminum Carrera bumper welded shut, then the bumper re painted. Lastly I got my R/R 8" Fuch back on the car. Meteor Grey is a very interesting color, it looks blue in some pics but is actually a warm gray. It can play tricks on you.

A couple of things left, I need to sort out the pattern on the remaining 3 Fuchs, the PO painted a bizarre pattern.
The car is sub 75k miles. OG paint, and pretty much stock for now. Its a bit dirty in the pics because this is right after a five day trip my GF and i took, but she cleaned up lovely.

Default Beautiful 3.2......

love the color. Why did you remove the tail.....just prefer the classic lines?

regards,

Mike

Yes something like that. My vision for the car is a kind of simplified but quite detailed classic air cooled 911.

Beautiful. Love the color.

Looks great sans tail. Much cleaner looking. As a kid I loved the turbo tail. Now I prefer the Carreras without them.

Your doing a fine job as custodian for this Carrera!

The color looks great and removing the tail was a good move.

Looks nice.

I too support that tails belong on whales and like the clear look.

Keep it at the speed limit. A 911 at high speed (north of 90 or so) is not fun, in my book, without a tail. On a Porsche 911, they are absolutely functional. I've got Ruby's stock lid-even painted it with the rest of the car in '02, but I doubt it will ever find it's way back on.

whoa, that's a very nice color.

I agree that the tails on a 911 are functional, unlike say.....an aftermarket Honda tuner tail.

But aesthetically, to each his own.

Absolutely, just trying to point out that there is a tradeoff.
