Post Strut choices for 944T (951) caliper conversion

I am trying to upgrade the brakes on my '74 Targa to 944T calipers, and need to convert over to a set of struts with the correct 3.5" bolt spacing . Are there any struts other than the Carrera (84-89) that would work under my 16" wheels.
The SC bolt spacing was is also 3.5", but I've been told there are other geometry differences that would preclude proper fitment. Can anyone confirm this, or know of any earlier struts that would work in this application?

The '84-'89 Carrera struts are the same as the SC struts. The other method is to have the holes welded shut in your calipers and re-drilled to the proper spacing.

A technician at the local P-Car repair facility here had a local machine shop do it for his '73 racer that's a work in progress.
