Post Magnecor Wire Set question?

Hello, I recently purchased the 8.5 Magnecor wire set from Pelican parts to replace the wires on my 77 911S. I found out that the boot wire terminals that are hooked on the rotor are not the same as the stock ones and they fit very loose. I think the boots don't even engage to the rotor.
Did any of you have this sort of problem when you did the upgrade, if so what solutions do you recommend?

I really like these wires for the MSD CD box upgrade I'm doing, but I'd like to know where I could find a set that will match my car.

Louis, if the Magnecore wires do NOT fit onto your distributor cap properly, I'm sure you have the wrong set.

The boots should fit snugly onto the cap and the terminals down into the cap, making contact with the cap terminals. I had Magnecore wires on my SC, factory distributor cap and they fit like a champ.

I would bring this to the attention of Pelican Parts as I'm sure Wayne will make sure all is good...he's that way.

If for some reason you think there's a possibility you may be wrong, check with a local P-Car shop and any technician that works on Porsches and whatnot could tell you if the wires are acceptable.

If for some reason they're not, and Pelican Parts doesn't have another solution using Magnecore wires, contact Windward Performance, they're a Magnecore distributor and got mine right for my SC...and then after I changed over to Electromotive "crankfired" ignition...they got that one right too!

You can also contact Magnecor directly. See their website at www.magnecor.com

Thank you guys for your input, I think I'd exchange them for another set from Pelican parts.

Louis:

I also have a '77 911S and ordered Pelican's magnecore wires and had the same problem, but only for the main distributor wire (the one in the center coming from the coil). I solved the problem by taking a plastic cinch tie (for lack of a better word) and tightening it down around the plastic. Works fine and no chance that it would come off.
